An ongoing collaboration with Film maker Roger Thorp. ‘Pantheist’ formerly ‘Blood to dust’ has been animated from 7 paintings on copper being composed, shrouded and stripped back. From colour terrains human heads emerge, defined through cultural and religious iconography dissolve amidst relentless pigment and reflected light. By exploring shifting creeds and ethnicity we have repeatedly re -edited to make versions for site specific installations. These include Abopevent film festival, North Carolina, and a tour in alternative art venues and music studios, in northern Europe, concluding at Martin Asbaek Gallery, Copenhagen.
‘Bardo 7.08’ is a triptych that explores an interplay between Christian and Buddhist imagery. The transitional and cyclic nature of drawing and re-drawing to find the desired image has been used in this animation. It refers to countless line drawings made at the British museum of religious frecoe’s, sculptures and icons.
